THEOLOSOPHY:

Theolosophy concerns the relationship between the Universe, life humankind and our understanding of god.

Theolosophy differs from Theology which is the study of religious faith, and the relationship of god to humankind. Theology assumes the presence of god as coming before everything else - god is assumed to be the creator and omnipotent controller of everything.

Theolosophy assumes a Universal process precedes everything. The Universe is not seen as a creation but an on-going process of continuous change. The human understanding of God is understood to have arisen as part of our evolution, particularly in relation to our need to live successfully in community. Our belief in God is our attempt to explain the unexplainable, to offer us hope and comfort at times of difficulty, and lay the foundation for community living. In this regard, and of particular importance in understanding our relationship with god, is the reality that we have worshipped tens of thousands of variants of the divine - all have been created by us.

Theolosophy also differs from Theology in one significant aspect. Conventional theology focuses on how god is supposed to have created the World. Theolosophy focuses far more on why the Universe came into existence - what is its purpose? What is the point of everything in existence throughout an infinitely vast and ageless Universe? How too does everything happen - what process makes everything possible?

The concept of Theolosophy was developed by David Michael Jones in response to the claim that god created everything 'seen and unseen'. Theolosophy argues, as soon as we understand what 'all things seen and unseen' means, it instantly becomes apparent that god couldn't have created it. The Universe is too vast and too old to have been created by an external power. If for no other reason than there is no plausible explanation as to where all the energy and matter to create such an infinite and ageless Universe could have come from. Based on the premise that nothing can be created or destroyed, Theolosophy argues that the Universe must have arisen by transition from something that already existed.
